IT'S AAAaaaaaa........

In less than 20 hours two people I dearly love are going to find out if their child is a boy or a girl. Now, rather than to risk overuse of the word AMAZING (as I often do), I have turned to my handy dandy thesaurus for alternatives to describe just a few of my feelings about our baby announcement....overwhelming, grand, breathtaking, splendid, tremendous, remarkable, amazing, astounding, euphoric, gripping, exhilarating, spine tingling, awesome, exciting, delightful, joyful, thrilling, blissful, happiest, and humbled. (You'd think I was the only person ever to be a grandma!)
PS. Please be advised - based on emotions that I have experienced since hearing that the gender ultrasound would be performed on Thursday, I strongly suggest and even urge, in advance, that someone very stout please be near me when the announcement …We’rehavinabo or We’rehavinagi…is made. For I shall surely pass out from anticipation drainage and I don’t want to be injured from the fall.

We Interrupt This Program

For An Important Announcement…..
This reporter has inside information on breaking news that will forever change the events of the world as we know it! I am ecstatic to announce to you, the reading audience, that an ultrasound of major proportions will be performed at 8:15 on Thursday, December 23, 2010. The scan will hopefully and finally reveal the gender of our long awaited grandchild.
Inside sources maintain that the announcement to the public regarding the scan results are yet to be determined which leaves this reporter in a state of shock and unrest. Those sources elude that the announcement could “be made as late as the New Year” which will in no uncertain terms cause agitation and anxiety among the many followers of this blog.
You are urged to stay tuned to this station for up to the minute reports as they become available. Trusted sources are standing by, ready to bring you the latest news as it comes in.
Please be advised: There is a monetary reward to anyone with information on the outcome of the scan. Should this information prove true, contact this grandmother and the transfer will be made to the bank of your choice.
20/20 -We're in touch, so you be in touch.

Little Dreamer Boy

Ready for some more awemazing baby facts? Our little one is 8 - 9 ounces and is growing by literal leaps and bounds! This week, he’s the size of a mango, give or take a millimeter or two! His growth is rapid and he is now storing iron to produce healthy blood cells. And I’m giving him a new name because our lil man is beginning to dream this week! My Little Dreamer Boy! Totally amazing…Little McDreamy’s legs are reaching their relative size and his muscles are developing daily. It won’t be long before he starts his punting practice!! Our little one will increase his weight by more than 15 times between now and his appearance! He knows his Mommy’s voice and will soon begin to respond with jerky movements, it's like he's break dancing for Mommy! He is sleeping and waking at regular intervals and has begun to exercise his lungs and practice his breathing! I’ve picked out a few songs I plan on teaching him over the Christmas holiday! Hope we don’t disturb Mommy too much!!

Tis The Season

I’m not sure how to properly describe what a good weekend we just had. Saturday we enjoyed the annual Austin Christmas party at Tom and Becky’s house. As always, Becky had the absolute most beautifulest Christmas tree you’ve ever seen and the most delish goodies to eat! I  took a chocolate Ding Dong cake that was, I must admit, pretty good. After we ate we played a new game called Apples to Apples, it was quite fun. The best part of the day was listening to Bethany run around the house in her shiny squeek shoes, she was so entertaining. On the way home, Dan, Jane-Marie, Bethany, and I stopped in at Lindsey and Jeff’s house for a quick visit. I traded Lindsey a big chunk of my cake for some doughnut holes for Bethany and I to snack on!! Saturday was a fun filled day but I sure felt the effects Sunday, I was moving pretty slow for a while.
Sunday evening we loaded up and went to the Christmas program at Pauline where Lindsey and Jeff attend church. Carol, Danny, Papaw, Granny, Jeff and myself filled the pew and enjoyed the program which was awe-inspiring -and not just because Lindsey was in it either! It was a beautiful service that  musically portrayed the true meaning of Christmas that we often forget, the birth of Jesus. I just can’t say enough about how well the program was done, kudos to all of the members who took part. After the service ended, we loaded up and went to eat Mexican food and eat we did!! My favorite son in law even picked up the tab! Two days in a row spent with family having fun – it just doesn’t get any better!

All I Want For Christmas Is ... an Ultrasound!

Can you believe Christmas is 7 days 15 hours 19 minutes away? Didn’t I  take down the Halloween goblins just yesterday? Time is so fickle…it has an odd way of flying, however when you really really WANT to know something, it just d r a g s by. I secretly thought we would know this next week if we were getting a Princess or Prince but it just didn’t work out in our favor. The doctor wants to wait another week and that’s ok, he’s the doctor and he knows best BUT…It’s been so hard to refrain from shopping for baby (other than diapers). I want to buy every cute, adorable little thing I see, but I have fought the good fight and been strong. But I do have a list ready ...“ITEMS FOR BABY”!! There's two columns, Printhess – Printh. It’s alphabetized too. The items are book marked and ready to order as soon as I hear "It's a Gir or Bo".  All I have to do is log in, select Confirm Order, and check Overnight Fed Ex Priority shipping!!! Whooohoo!
I know Lindsey and Jeff are on pins and needles waiting to find out what their baby  will be. I know whether it be a boy or a girl, those two wonderful people will be the best Mommy and Daddy a baby could ever wish for. And personally, I think that Baby will be the absolute prettiest, handsomest, cleverest, smartest, happiest, bestest baby in the www. (whole wide world) Oh and speaking of time -  we have 156 more to go for a Baby!

Sweet Tater Time

We are now at 18 weeks and Lil Man is hitting the height chart at about 6 inches (that's noggin to booboo) and weighs about seven ounces!, which is about the size of a sweet tater. I’m especially tickled to say that our lil Sweet Tater has mastered the art of yawnin' this week!! In fact, if Mommy should get an ultrasound, we just might see the littl'un break out into a big old lazy yawn. If we’re lucky, we could catch him rolling and twisting and doing a few punches. It won’t be long before Mommy will feel our little man playing tag and soccer!!
Our lil baby boy is working hard to complete his nervous system, which is rapidly maturing. His nerves are forming complex connections such as those in the brain that serve his senses of touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. And speaking of hearing... Tater’s hearing is growing more acute every day, making him more conscious of sounds, especially those that come from Mommy! So be careful Mommy what you say about you know who this month.
(Ho Ho Ho) Oh, and his new trick for this week? Hiccups. He can actually hiccup!! Oh that boy, is he the smartest little thing or what?

One Little, Two Little, Three Little Unjins

Seems like for-EV-er since I’ve been here on the blog! Two reasons for my absence …my laptop hard drive bit the dust the day before Thanksgiving and my back went out the Sunday after Thanksgiving! And if you’ve ever had a back problem, you know that one wrong move will stop you in your tracks, make you drop to your knees, and have you cry out to your Father above!! You may know this but I wasn’t aware - Your eyebrow muscles are connected to your back? Oww… I went to the doctor last week and he made me an appointment with a specialist for Jan.13th. I just hope I can make it to the 13th!! Owww, oww…
Anywhooo I missed week 16 when the baby was the size of an avocado! This past Monday was week 17 and the baby is the size of a sweet onion! My little Vidalia!
The most excitingest part of this week is our Lil Vidalia can now hear! It’s time to get out the cd’s and play some musack for Lil Vi. It’s also time to start talking to our little Unjin -  the experts say do not be shy about this as  we WANT our little’un to recognize our voices. They say the baby will flutter here and there when it hears sound.
Lil Cootie Bug can also sense touch this week! Also, cartilage that forms bones is beginning to harden and the baby is starting to move much more.Wow! Next time I see lil Momma, I'm going to formally introduce myself to Bitsybaby and sing it a little ditty…(somebody will flutter for sure after that!)

Orange Ya Glad We're Getting A Baby?

We are already at week 15! Seems like only yesterday we were braggin' on our little boy blueberry and now we have an orange little Angel! She is almost 4 inches long and although Mommy doesn't feel her, Sweet Pea is warming up on her gymnastic routine. Her little elbows and knees are bending more freely this week and her little legs are finally growing longer than her arms. She's getting pumped up for a zumbathon. Sweet Baby's major organ systems are increasing in capacity—particularly that amazing tiny heart and complex circulation system, which is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood per day, and will increase to a very impressive 200 quarts per day by the end of the pregnancy!! As far as hair goes, we’ve got some new scalp patterns beginning to develop on her head, although her actual head hair is not yet present. Even more awesome-er? She now has adult size taste buds! Can you believe it?

I'm Starting on my Christmas List

The Thanksgiving holiday is officially over, I made my small contribution to Black Friday, and it's Saturday so I'm cleaning - and I'm pooped. When I finish with the house work, (hahaha) I plan on sitting down and making out my Christmas list. No really, I'm making out MY list. I have everyone else pretty much taken care of. I don't need anything, and like most anyone else, if I need or want something, I usually get it. (Sooner or later!) I thought of the perfect gift and I want it. I looked it up online and found that it comes in one of my favorite colors, it cleans, and it's now going to the top of my list. I want a Merry Maid all my very own! It's perfect and what lady of the house wouldn't want one? Problem though, there are none in our area. Bummer....guess I'll finish cleaning then start over on my list!

Leftovers

Family and friends surrounded the Thanksgiving feast fest. The food was blessed and the race was on! As I looked about the kitchen at the bowls and dishes of food everywhere, I devised a plan. Whatever I couldn't get on my plate for lunch, well, I'd just have to go back and get at supper time. It worked too! It was won-der-ful and ohmygoodness, I'm STILL full today. Even after we ate the second time around, there were leftovers galore. The best thing about that - we can enjoy them again today. I think I'll add Rubbermaid, Tupperware, and Pyrex to my grateful journal!

Thanksgiving Thoughts

Happy Thanksgiving to You!!
I’ve been talking to myself a little this week and we decided to commit to a daily Thanks-living program. I’m sure this idea has been featured on Oprah or Dr. Phil so I can’t take credit for it.

I bought a little journal with lots of pages and I plan to enter one grateful thought a day. Often times, I fail to reflect and be thankful for the goodness I've received. I'm hoping that if I see them on paper, I’ll be reminded to be more grateful and less assuming in my life and thoughts. Here's a few entries I plan to make in my journal. I'm thankful for - -
  • My dogs and their inability to talk.
  • The commitment my parents made to each other 56 years ago.
  • Having the title to my vehicle.
  • I drive 20 minutes to work so I can wind up for the day.
  • I drive 20 minutes home from work so I can wind down.
  • Having friends that know me and still like me.
  • Our wood splitter, I love fires.
  • Online banking and ATM machines.
  • Mr. L’Oreal and Sister Clinique, for without their expertise in chemistry, my mascara would run and my roots would show.
  • That God knows what I need and gives it to me when it’s time.
Now that you've seen some of my gratefuls, what’s yours? Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Hope you have a great birthday and a scrumpdillyishous Thanksgiving day!

Sugar 'n Spice or Snips 'n Snails?

Since the beginning of time, expectant mothers have been offered advice in determining the gender of their unborn child. Some tales are plain silly - others slightly odd! Whatever the ‘tale’, nothing is 100% except for an ultrasound maybe, and even these have been wrong at times. Here's four old tales that ‘predicts’ the gender of a baby.
If you're carrying low, you're having a boy. If you are carrying high, then you must be having a girl. Science says NOT true. If you're having a girl, then the baby's heart rate will be above 140. A boy will have a heart rate below 140. However, science again says NOT true.
Cravings are caused by the sex of the baby. So, if Mommy can't get enough chocolate, she could be having a girl. Sour cravings are a result of the little boy. (Pucker up!) If Daddy puts on weight during the pregnancy, then Mommy will be having a girl. If he doesn't put on a pound, then Mommy is carrying a boy! (Glad it didn’t say granma!)
Whatever the gender of our Barton baby, we ALL plan on lovin’ the puddin’ out of  her / him!!!

Our Leapin' Lil Lemon

I went shopping with Mommy and grand baby this weekend. We stayed in Little Rock Friday night and wore out my feet. I think Mommy’s feet were getting sore too! But I have more important things to tell…
Welcome to our second trimester! This week's huge news: Our baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee-pee, and suck his thumb! His facial muscles are getting a workout as his tee-niny features form one expression after another!  I think he smiled big time when we went to Dixie Cafe and Cracker Barrell (I sure did)!!
Our baby's stretching out, from his head to his boo-boo, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do, but we are fine with that!.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair all over his body. Wonder if he’s a blonde, brown or red?? Though Mommy can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, our little boxer’s hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active. Oh my gosh, I can hardly believe this is happening!

Goofy Gramma

Every now an then you just have a need to be silly - after all, laughter is good for the soul, right? I got my friend girl to take this goofy picture with my cellphone. Speaking of cellphones, isn't amazing how far we've come with cellphones? I remember when they were the size of military field phones that you perched on your car seat. Bag phones! Now we use cells as camera, computers, games...and they are smaller than a deck of cards, whodathunk it! Anyway, can you believe that we will have a precious new baby in 187 days or less? I still find it difficult to comprehend at times. I often wonder the silliest things such as ...will she like me, will he scream nonstop when I hold him, will she want to shop with me, will he expect me to run after a baseball??.... (uh oh!)

Sweet Sheep Sleep

With Christmas fast approaching, a mere 39 days away, perhaps I should shift into high gear and get a bit of shopping done. Naturally, my first gift thought was THE BABY. (Sorry to the rest of the family!!) Lemme see, what can I possibly buy that is gender neutral? I stumbled upon the perfect gift….the soft, fluffy, sweet Sleep Sheep is baby's perfect sleep companion. It helps to soothe them to sleep in a safe, calming, natural way. A sound box tucked safely inside of the Sleep Sheep lulls babies to sleep with soft sounds from nature and the comforting sound of a mother's heartbeat. (or Grandma’s) Sleep Sheep's peaceful sounds are an audio pacifier that can calm even the fussiest babies to sleep. When babies sleep better, parents (and Grandmas) sleep better. It has 4 soothing sounds - Mommy's heartbeat, Spring Showers, Ocean Surf, and Whale Songs. (whales sing??) An automatic time-out after 23 minutes, unique numbered adoption certificate, and best of all ...FREE batteries included.

My Peach Toddler

Welcome to week 13 which is Peach week, our baby is no longer the size of a pit -  he’s the whole Peach now! This week is the beginning of the Barton baby’s second trimester! Lil Man is approaching normal proportions, with his head now only one third of his body. Now, to the good stuff….All twenty of his itty bitty toofies are formed and growing under those tiny gums.  Lil man can actually smile now! I’ll bet he’s is grinning from ear to ear too, hearing Mommy and Daddy make plans for his future. His vocal cords are quickly developing and his tiny little bones are beginning to form in his arms and legs - getting ready for throwing a baseball, kick a football, swing a golf club, cast a rod, and baggin’ Daddy’s ducks! As a matter of fact, he’s moving his arms so much that he may possibly catch his mouth with his hand and find his thumb to suck! What a peach!

Shoes, A Girl's Best Trend

When Lindsey was a bitty thing, she was one THE luckiest little girl. One reason was that her Mamaw Hazel worked in the shoe department at Wal Mart. For years, every time a shipment came in, Lindsey got first pick! Two, three, four pair at a time was not an uncommon purchase. And of course, if you add in Mamaw Hazel's Wal Mart employee discount, Lindsey made out like a bandit when it came to shoes.
I have a sneaky suspicion that those formative years of shoe shopping instigated Lindsey's appreciation for foot gear! If we should be blessed with a beautiful little girl, I plan on taking over Mamaw Hazel's tradition starting with this gorgeous pair of little leather baby moc's. The cherry on the sole is like icing on a cake...the best part!

Every Mommy Needs a Passy

I’ve been slacking on the blog the last week, I think it’s the time change! When it gets dark so early, my body thinks it’s time to go to bed!
What one thing should a new parent never leave home without? Bottles and diapers of course but the number one item is a pacifier.
The pacifier was invented in the mid 1300’s by a father that couldn’t get his son to sleep at night. Genius! There are over 150 different names for pacifier! Just to name a few…binker, binky, fussplug, mo-mo, ninny, passy, Patsy, plug, sucka, sassy, tassy, tootie, woo-woo, wubby….and the list goes on. On the average, a family will buy 20 pacifiers a year and they range from 2.99 up to 10.00 each! The newer models even come with a cover! (One name I didn't mention....Mute button!!)

Weekend Visit With Chloe

Chloe protects her Pop Tarts !
Pictures from the weekend ...Mommy, Natalie and Chloe had a good visit together this weekend. Chloe is getting to be a such a big girl and she's developing quite a personality too, the little charmer! The gals loaded up and went to a shower for Abby Saturday afternoon. I went over early Sunday to visit them before they had to leave. Chloe and I went outside and fed the dogs a treat, left over pretzels! Chloe giggled everytime Ace and Deuce came close to her.  We love to see them come and just hate to see them go, the visits are never long enough.

Plum Purty

This is the last week of Mommy's first trimester!  I can't believe how the time has passed. The most dramatic development this week? Reflexes. Our baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, her eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements, getting ready for the bobo and thumbs! Our baby has doubled in size in the last three weeks.
If Mommy would let us poke and tickle her tummy, our baby would squirm a little bit in response. Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and our baby's brain is forming furiously.
Maybe I better start buying up a few books for Mommy and Daddy so they can brush up on their reading to baby skills!
** Several friends have asked if we know what we are having in May. No news on gender yet. The doctor told Mommy that we may be able to find out what we are getting around Christmas!

Baby Sounds

Mommy and Daddy went to the doctor today for their monthly visit. The doc said that all is well - Mommy is in fine shape, gaining only 1-1/2 pounds! Wow, you go Mommy, good job. Doc said Mommy can continue all her active activities including her aerobics and exercise and Daddy can continue with his vaccuming and hunting!
I asked Mommy to call me after the doctor visit to give me an update. Instead of a phone call, Daddy sent me a audio clip. I clicked on the attachment and all of the sudden what started off as a yucky day that I'd rather forget, ended with a sound that I'll never forget.. it was the sweetest music I've ever heard. Twenty precious seconds of our baby's heart beat.

Baby Barton Nipper Slippers

Just as any young golfer requires good golf shoes, any true sportsman knows the importance of the proper hunting gear which starts with the foundation - camp slippers. When the temps dip into the teens, our lil man needs proper foot protection while getting ready to go out into the frigid blind with Daddy. Don't be fooled by the appearance of these little Nipper Slippers, they are constructed of hefty camo canvas which sport a thick leather sole. The inside is lined with real sheepskin which guarantees warmth and comfort. The Nipper Slippers come in the original guy camo green/gray and don't worry,  I've also located a pair that comes in camo pink! (Just in case.)

Little Lou Lou Limetta

Our Doll Baby continues to grow and is now approximately the size of a large lime! From the top of her head to her cute little rump, our lil Puddin is 2-1/2 inches long,  give or take a smidgen. Her weight is ½ ounce, or there about! Sweet Cheek’s growth is phenomenal and her length will double in the next three weeks. Her gorgeous head is a tad out of proportion as it’s almost half of her length now. Not to worry though, it will all grow together to become the absolute most perfect little baby in the whole world.
Baby Sunshine is now able to swallow, she's getting ready for her bobo's (baby talk for bottle). Although our lil Honey Bun’s skin is still very transparent, her bones are beginning to harden, her nasal passages are open, and she is becoming more active as the weeks progress! It's truly amazing how each week brings us a little closer to our wonderful baby Barton.

One Hot Hippie Momma

I always knew my little girl had a wild side but wow! And she told me she was dressing up as a blackeyed pea!

Wednesday afternoon, the Pauline Baptist Church hosted a really far out Fall Festival on the church grounds. My little dippy hippie wild child was the super cool hostess of Musical Chairs! Wonder what kind of music she played for the kids, Puff the Magic Dragon? Hopefully nothing too far out man.
Thank you Daddy for sending me this picture, now I have proof to back up the wild stories I plan on telling our little one about his/her Momma! (Sometimes a Glam-ma needs a little bargaining power!)
I'm proud of Lindsey and Jeff for the time and support that they give to their church. They're well on their way to building a solid foundation for a happy home and family.

He's A Real Pro

Daddy Jeff, Mr. Fuzzy & Chloe
I found a picture of Daddy Jeff  and Chloe Bear. This picture was taken at Mommy and Daddy's house when Chloe and her parents came for a visit. We missed Chloe's birthday so lil Mommy threw her another party complete with a huge chocolate chip cookie covered with yummy icing. After having her fill of the delish cookie (and getting cleaned up), Chloe opened her gifts, which included Mr. Fuzzy Bear. I think they are having a face off in this photo!
Don't you agree that Jeff looks like an old pro here with Chloe? He  looks so calm and pleasant, just like it's natural thing to hold a little one. I'm so anxious to see him holding his own little one in May. There's no doubt that he'll be voted Best New Daddy in town - giving hugs, taking the late night feedings, changing diapers, washing bottles, cooking, grocery shopping....

A Special Moment

Honey & Olivia
I ran across this picture last weekend. As I looked at Lil Mommy holding lil Livi, I think it finally sunk in and I must admit, I got a little soft inside. This is what my little girl is going to look like holding her little girl (or boy)! I know my friends and co-workers are tickled for Mommy & Daddy and all of us that are attached to the Barton Baby but... I know they are sooo tired of listening to me talk Baby Stuff all the time. Well, sorry folks, this is only the beginning! Now, off to find more pictures, I know I have one of Daddy and a baby somewhere - I'll post it tomorrow! xOx

Kute Little Kumquat

I look at several sites each week for info on baby growth. Of the three I visit, two said this week our baby was the size of a prune...not gonna do it. I’m not calling our little man a prune, euuugh -  I looked some more. I finally found a nice site that says our baby is the size of a Kumquat. (Much better) I learned that week 10 is going to be a very busy week in his development.
Lil Kumquat’s ears are taking their final shape, his nasal passages are opening up, and he has a little bitty tongue and palate that will be complete by the end of the week. Get this, his little teefie buds now beginning to grow in those awesome pink gums! Lil' man has individual fingers and toes that are moving and the nail beds are forming nails, and his hair follicles are growing in for his beautiful head of curly hair.
It is highly possible that he could grow 1 inch in seven days. He will also begin gymnastics -  he will stretch, do a forward roll, and possibly even a somersault!  Yes sir, that’s our baby and I give him an 10!

Grins And Giggles

I like short quotes and I enjoy looking at pictures of laughing babies so I combined the two for this post. If the quotes won't make you smile, the picture sure will. I don't know the baby in the picture but he appears to be having such a good time showing off his new front teeth. What a cutie.
People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one. I always wondered why babies spend so much time sucking their thumbs. Then I tasted baby food. You will always be your child's favorite toy. There is only one pretty child in the world, and every mother has it. When my kids become wild and unruly, I use a nice, safe playpen. When they're finished, I climb out. Mama does everything for the baby, who responds by saying Dada first. I don't know whether they should say "You have a baby." or "The baby has you". Parenthood: That state of being better chaperoned than you were before marriage.

How I Got My Name

Years ago we came home one night to new neighbors moving in next door. The handsome 2 year old little boy named Grant was especially friendly. He walked up to me and asked, “What is your name?” Thinking I would be funny, I said, “ My name is Chris, but you can call me Precious.” It stuck! Since that night, Grant now 16, and his sister Gracie-Dru, have called me Precious.
When Daniel and Jane-Marie told us they were pregnant, Dana and I started thinking of names we’d like to be called. Precious seemed natural, so I went with that. She is two now and is working hard to say Precious although it often comes out like  “Pea chuss”!
I don’t know if I want to change my name for the new baby, I like it. I don’t feel like a Gamma, Grandmother, Grandma, Mamaw, or a MeMe. I did see one that I might consider changing to... GLAM-Ma…!!
I don’t intend to be choosy or a Grandzilla about a name. Whatever the baby calls me, you may rest assured that I shall answer in a flash, sprint like Wonder Woman, and swiftly appear at the child’s side. Ready, willing and hopefully able, to grant any wish the child requests!

Vote For Mommy on Oct. 21

Our candidate today is Mommy Lindsey and who couldn't vote for this charming little doll? Mommy Lindsey is from the Windy Hills area and she also attends PBC. As you can see, she still has the most beautiful blue eyes and perfect smile. When Mommy isn't in her classroom teaching her 2nd graders, you can find her doing most anything. She is an avid reader, she loves to shop, she is quite the chef, she enjoys aerobics, and loves to shop. I think she will be a fine mommy and will make certain the new baby starts off right by learning percentages at an early age. (For the sales.) If you think the baby will look like Mommy Lindsey, cast your vote for her. And remember to vote each time you peep in.

Vote For Daddy October 20th

Based on the Peeper counter, there’s been alot of peepin’ going on but very few votes. The counter shows only 29 have voted on the Look Like contest. You shy Peepers out there are encouraged to vote every time you peep!  To increase the interest a little, I’m adding a Vote for Me special good for two days only. I will introduce candidate # 1 today and candidate #2, will be the feature on Thursday.
Our first candidate is Daddy Jeff. He lives in the Windy Hills area and attends PBC. Jeff enjoys golf, fishing, duck hunting, golf, and duck hunting. His favorite pastime is watching a good game - golf, football, baseball, or golf, from the sofa on lazy Sunday afternoon. His flavorite food is anything fried. If you think the baby will look like this adorable little man, please cast your vote for Jeff!

Happy Birthday Mamaw

Mamaw In Charge
Mamaw Virginia's 39th birthday is Oct. 19th - Tuesday!  Happy Birthday Mamaw! The picture posted here was taken when Jeff and Lindsey were in the process of buying their first home. Everyone came by to inspect and give their approval on the house including Mamaw. If she says it's ok, then you can get out your check book! We all enjoy visiting her and one thing is for sure, you'll never leave her company without having a few hearty laughs. Lots of love and good wishes coming your way for a very Happy Birthday Mamaw, enjoy your day!

Our Little Olive Oyl

This is week is incredible number nine! You guessed it, our Lil Olive Oyl is the size of an OLIVE. The little one is growing like crazy and most of the aspects of her physical structure, such as head, arms, legs, and torso are in place. And she resembles a mini human being. Awwwe. Plus would you believe that her eye color, hair color and gender is already determined! Am I calling our girl a boy or our boy a girl???
Because Lil Olive Oyl's organs and limbs are forming, in the next few weeks, she will be putting on weight. (Uh oh Mommy!) Her organs and muscles are functioning on their own and her face is becoming more distinct every day, with the mouth, nose and nostrils becoming clearly visible. Lil Olive Oyl’s heart is now divided into four separate chambers. It's hard to believe that something so small can function so completely, isn't it? That's our little miracle giving her Mommy jean fits!

Chloe Takes The Day Off

Today I got a message from Natalie on my cell. There was the cutest little picture. I had to put on my cheater glasses to get a better look. I saw it was Baby Barton’s bff, ChloeBear K!
I looked closer at the picture and saw that she was curled up on the floor with her fuzzy toy! Mommy Nat said lil C is under the weather today. Awwe, poor lil thing...

I think even Chloe knows it’s Friday and wanted to spend the day at home with her Mommy - a week of that daycare scene will wear a girl down. Happy thoughts and get well wishes to ChloeBear, hope you feel much better soon!
Happy Friday everyone, have a great weekend!

Brilliant Bibs for Baby Barton

I've had alot of fun looking at all the different and unique baby items. I had no idea that there is so much out there for babies. My lunch hour is like a treasure hunt every day! Today I found two types of bibs. The first is Dabib. The neckline is like a turtleneck- a fine idea for drips and runs down the chinny chin chin. Dabib comes in a variety of colors and fabrics. The second bib is utilitarian, almost like Poppies' tool belt!! It is called a Bizzi Bibbi! Say that three times real fast! It has a Velcro fastener at the neck and a handy dandy bottle and passy holder. The Bizzi Bibbi is genius-wonder if they come in adult sizes!!

Splish Splash Bottle Drying Rack

After you rub a dub your baby's bottles you need a place to stack them to dry. Here is a goofy but great gadget to speed up bottle wash time. This innovative rotating, space-saving design is perfectly suited for the job.
The Splish Splash Bottle Drying Rack is made of certified food safe ABS plastic and is dishwasher safe (a definite plus). The rack holds up to nine bottles or cups, a shelf for nipples, valves, caps and other items and has a fun rotating drip tray. It also includes an integrated rubber-gripped bottle brush. And my favorite sentence in the whole article is * No assembly required*. Not often you see that in a description! It comes in two popular colors to match any décor - red and translucent white. I guess I can say I've seen it all now!

Our Little Razzler Dazzler

Pretty in Pink ?
According to all the experts, our baby is growing like crazy this week. It is week 8 and she is officially the size of a plump, sun ripened Raspberry!!
Our darling little Sugar Pie is putting on close to a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in her trunk. Her lips, nose, eyelids, legs, and back continue to take on the most gorgeous little shape in the whole wide world. (like her Mommy!)
Though Mommy can't feel it yet, Cutie Patootie is waving her wittle bitty arms, kicking her teensie weensie legs and wigglin her itty bitty fingers and toes like crazy. Our little Honey Bun's heart is beating at the incredible rate of 150 times per minute — about twice as fast as ours right now! That’s our little aerobiciser working on her cardio already ..aone, anatwo, anathree and kick…

Pointers For Precious

The day started out like every other Monday, me not wanting to go to work. After a busy weekend including shopping, I admit, I was a little s l u g g i s h this morning. I got to work and found that my friend Toni had a surprise for me! ( love surprises)
She bought me a rather large book titled GrandLoving – Making Memories with your Grand Children. It's chock full of ideas, hints, and tips that will help me to “Grow closer to my grandchild.” and to “Turn me in to the grandmother that every child wants.”

Now I have hundreds of expert, time proven tricks, oops - meant to say tips, on how to properly indulge our little one from birth to the teen years. Thank you, Aunt Toni!

We Hit The Target

Saturday dawned crisp and clear, a perfect shopping day. Lil Momma and I headed to Little Rock early to the new Target store. The aisles were clear and you could actually maneuver the huge red carts around and down them. We made our way to the BABY DEPARTMENT where each aisle had so many cute things. We enjoyed ooohing and ahhing down every one too! I must say I was proud of my restraint - I wanted so badly to buy several, several baby things but I overcame the urge. It wasn't easy.

We Miss Our Little Friend

Today is Isabelle's birthdate. Although the baby will never know Isabelle, Isabelle would have loved the little one as much as we do. (From afar of course!) She wasn't crazy about small children but I know Isabelle would have made an exception for our sweet little Maybaby.

Baby's First Picture

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my distinct honor and pleasure to present to you, Little Baby Barton, 51 days old today. This is the first picture of many that I plan to post. Isn't this the most beautiful picture you've ever seen? I knew you'd agree.
Save the date - MAY 23, 2011!
I'm so excited for Lindsey and Jeff! There is no doubt that they will be the best parents in the world! It will be so much fun to watch them both melt into this baby's palm.

Cribblet For Our Little Gibblet

The Co-Sleeper Bassinet is a fantastic idea as well as a unique creation that began with a mother and father's need for a safe sleeping environment for their child. They, like many parents, had realized the benefits of co-sleeping with their infants. Increased bonding, ease of feeding and a greater sense of closeness.  The Co-Sleeper enables parents and infant to enjoy a more restful night of much needed sleep. It is also highly recommended by leading pediatricians and sleep research experts. The 'cribblet' permits the parents to respond instantly to a baby's needs. Best of all, Mommy and Daddy can enjoy more rest because they can reach the baby from their bed without putting their feet on the floor! It is available in premium finishes and fabrics. Call 1-800-PRE-CIOUS to place your order today! Free shipping, delivery, and set up to Windy Hill residents.

Why Is This Baby Smiling?

There is just too much to know about babies these days. SO many things out there that hadn't even been thought of when lil Momma was born! I am taking in so much that I think I have information overload. I can feel my brain expanding! For instance, one little topic. Food. I won’t start on toys, clothing, bottles, and diapers.
Back when, lil Momma ate cheap Cherrios and vegetables and or fruit slices for ‘finger snacks’. On occasion, I'd give her a couple of Nilla waffers for something sweet.
Now, there is a mind boggling list of organic, gluten free, soy enriched, lactose free, sugarless, no preservatives added, all natural rice, non rolled, steel cut oat, rice rusk cakes in 'green', earth friendly packaging.
I stumbled upon a website touting ‘yummy’ wholesome recipes for your baby. Here are just a few of their ‘yummy’ delights that will make your baby yell for more!! Tofu Finger Cubes, Baby Won Ton Snacks, Tofu Nuggets, and my favorite, Apple Turkey Sticks, mmm. Oh my aching head, hand me my bag of Cheeto puffs.

MAYbe Baby

I'm not one to get real excited about going to doctors. Now, if it's someone elses appointment, well, that's ok. Especially if it's to find out the birth date of our lil' one.
Momma is going back to the doctor for an ultrasound on Wednesday. Good luck to Mommy and Daddy. Send us a text so we can mark the day on our calendars. XOX

Daddy's Better

Lil Momma called me Saturday night and said that Daddy was not well. We talked back and forth trying to think of anything and everything to do to help him feel better.
I spoke to Momma Sunday evening and she said that Daddy was a little better, had eaten a bit of soup, and returned to bed for a while.
Here's hoping you feel MUCH, MUCH better today Daddy!
Get well quick! We love you.

Little Boy Blueberry

Today was another good day. Lil Momma came to town Friday afternoon and stayed the night. After sleeping in a bit Saturday, we went to visit Granny in the hospital. She is walking pretty good and is doing well. We are very hopeful she will be released to go home soon.
While we were visiting and having a baby conversation, Lil Momma made a statement that the baby was the size of a blueberry. After the visit was over and we all had gone our way, I was thinking about the statement on the baby's size. I got out my handy dandy laptop and did some research of my own.
I checked out a very informative site, appropriately named 'the bump' and by golly, she was right. Our little one, according to the 'experts', is indeed the size of a blueberry. Next week will be #8, and she will be the size of a raspberry. And to think some people don't believe in miracles.
