One Hot Hippie Momma

I always knew my little girl had a wild side but wow! And she told me she was dressing up as a blackeyed pea!

Wednesday afternoon, the Pauline Baptist Church hosted a really far out Fall Festival on the church grounds. My little dippy hippie wild child was the super cool hostess of Musical Chairs! Wonder what kind of music she played for the kids, Puff the Magic Dragon? Hopefully nothing too far out man.
Thank you Daddy for sending me this picture, now I have proof to back up the wild stories I plan on telling our little one about his/her Momma! (Sometimes a Glam-ma needs a little bargaining power!)
I'm proud of Lindsey and Jeff for the time and support that they give to their church. They're well on their way to building a solid foundation for a happy home and family.

He's A Real Pro

Daddy Jeff, Mr. Fuzzy & Chloe
I found a picture of Daddy Jeff  and Chloe Bear. This picture was taken at Mommy and Daddy's house when Chloe and her parents came for a visit. We missed Chloe's birthday so lil Mommy threw her another party complete with a huge chocolate chip cookie covered with yummy icing. After having her fill of the delish cookie (and getting cleaned up), Chloe opened her gifts, which included Mr. Fuzzy Bear. I think they are having a face off in this photo!
Don't you agree that Jeff looks like an old pro here with Chloe? He  looks so calm and pleasant, just like it's natural thing to hold a little one. I'm so anxious to see him holding his own little one in May. There's no doubt that he'll be voted Best New Daddy in town - giving hugs, taking the late night feedings, changing diapers, washing bottles, cooking, grocery shopping....

A Special Moment

Honey & Olivia
I ran across this picture last weekend. As I looked at Lil Mommy holding lil Livi, I think it finally sunk in and I must admit, I got a little soft inside. This is what my little girl is going to look like holding her little girl (or boy)! I know my friends and co-workers are tickled for Mommy & Daddy and all of us that are attached to the Barton Baby but... I know they are sooo tired of listening to me talk Baby Stuff all the time. Well, sorry folks, this is only the beginning! Now, off to find more pictures, I know I have one of Daddy and a baby somewhere - I'll post it tomorrow! xOx

Kute Little Kumquat

I look at several sites each week for info on baby growth. Of the three I visit, two said this week our baby was the size of a prune...not gonna do it. I’m not calling our little man a prune, euuugh -  I looked some more. I finally found a nice site that says our baby is the size of a Kumquat. (Much better) I learned that week 10 is going to be a very busy week in his development.
Lil Kumquat’s ears are taking their final shape, his nasal passages are opening up, and he has a little bitty tongue and palate that will be complete by the end of the week. Get this, his little teefie buds now beginning to grow in those awesome pink gums! Lil' man has individual fingers and toes that are moving and the nail beds are forming nails, and his hair follicles are growing in for his beautiful head of curly hair.
It is highly possible that he could grow 1 inch in seven days. He will also begin gymnastics -  he will stretch, do a forward roll, and possibly even a somersault!  Yes sir, that’s our baby and I give him an 10!

Grins And Giggles

I like short quotes and I enjoy looking at pictures of laughing babies so I combined the two for this post. If the quotes won't make you smile, the picture sure will. I don't know the baby in the picture but he appears to be having such a good time showing off his new front teeth. What a cutie.
People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one. I always wondered why babies spend so much time sucking their thumbs. Then I tasted baby food. You will always be your child's favorite toy. There is only one pretty child in the world, and every mother has it. When my kids become wild and unruly, I use a nice, safe playpen. When they're finished, I climb out. Mama does everything for the baby, who responds by saying Dada first. I don't know whether they should say "You have a baby." or "The baby has you". Parenthood: That state of being better chaperoned than you were before marriage.

How I Got My Name

Years ago we came home one night to new neighbors moving in next door. The handsome 2 year old little boy named Grant was especially friendly. He walked up to me and asked, “What is your name?” Thinking I would be funny, I said, “ My name is Chris, but you can call me Precious.” It stuck! Since that night, Grant now 16, and his sister Gracie-Dru, have called me Precious.
When Daniel and Jane-Marie told us they were pregnant, Dana and I started thinking of names we’d like to be called. Precious seemed natural, so I went with that. She is two now and is working hard to say Precious although it often comes out like  “Pea chuss”!
I don’t know if I want to change my name for the new baby, I like it. I don’t feel like a Gamma, Grandmother, Grandma, Mamaw, or a MeMe. I did see one that I might consider changing to... GLAM-Ma…!!
I don’t intend to be choosy or a Grandzilla about a name. Whatever the baby calls me, you may rest assured that I shall answer in a flash, sprint like Wonder Woman, and swiftly appear at the child’s side. Ready, willing and hopefully able, to grant any wish the child requests!

Vote For Mommy on Oct. 21

Our candidate today is Mommy Lindsey and who couldn't vote for this charming little doll? Mommy Lindsey is from the Windy Hills area and she also attends PBC. As you can see, she still has the most beautiful blue eyes and perfect smile. When Mommy isn't in her classroom teaching her 2nd graders, you can find her doing most anything. She is an avid reader, she loves to shop, she is quite the chef, she enjoys aerobics, and loves to shop. I think she will be a fine mommy and will make certain the new baby starts off right by learning percentages at an early age. (For the sales.) If you think the baby will look like Mommy Lindsey, cast your vote for her. And remember to vote each time you peep in.

Vote For Daddy October 20th

Based on the Peeper counter, there’s been alot of peepin’ going on but very few votes. The counter shows only 29 have voted on the Look Like contest. You shy Peepers out there are encouraged to vote every time you peep!  To increase the interest a little, I’m adding a Vote for Me special good for two days only. I will introduce candidate # 1 today and candidate #2, will be the feature on Thursday.
Our first candidate is Daddy Jeff. He lives in the Windy Hills area and attends PBC. Jeff enjoys golf, fishing, duck hunting, golf, and duck hunting. His favorite pastime is watching a good game - golf, football, baseball, or golf, from the sofa on lazy Sunday afternoon. His flavorite food is anything fried. If you think the baby will look like this adorable little man, please cast your vote for Jeff!

Happy Birthday Mamaw

Mamaw In Charge
Mamaw Virginia's 39th birthday is Oct. 19th - Tuesday!  Happy Birthday Mamaw! The picture posted here was taken when Jeff and Lindsey were in the process of buying their first home. Everyone came by to inspect and give their approval on the house including Mamaw. If she says it's ok, then you can get out your check book! We all enjoy visiting her and one thing is for sure, you'll never leave her company without having a few hearty laughs. Lots of love and good wishes coming your way for a very Happy Birthday Mamaw, enjoy your day!

Our Little Olive Oyl

This is week is incredible number nine! You guessed it, our Lil Olive Oyl is the size of an OLIVE. The little one is growing like crazy and most of the aspects of her physical structure, such as head, arms, legs, and torso are in place. And she resembles a mini human being. Awwwe. Plus would you believe that her eye color, hair color and gender is already determined! Am I calling our girl a boy or our boy a girl???
Because Lil Olive Oyl's organs and limbs are forming, in the next few weeks, she will be putting on weight. (Uh oh Mommy!) Her organs and muscles are functioning on their own and her face is becoming more distinct every day, with the mouth, nose and nostrils becoming clearly visible. Lil Olive Oyl’s heart is now divided into four separate chambers. It's hard to believe that something so small can function so completely, isn't it? That's our little miracle giving her Mommy jean fits!

Chloe Takes The Day Off

Today I got a message from Natalie on my cell. There was the cutest little picture. I had to put on my cheater glasses to get a better look. I saw it was Baby Barton’s bff, ChloeBear K!
I looked closer at the picture and saw that she was curled up on the floor with her fuzzy toy! Mommy Nat said lil C is under the weather today. Awwe, poor lil thing...

I think even Chloe knows it’s Friday and wanted to spend the day at home with her Mommy - a week of that daycare scene will wear a girl down. Happy thoughts and get well wishes to ChloeBear, hope you feel much better soon!
Happy Friday everyone, have a great weekend!

Brilliant Bibs for Baby Barton

I've had alot of fun looking at all the different and unique baby items. I had no idea that there is so much out there for babies. My lunch hour is like a treasure hunt every day! Today I found two types of bibs. The first is Dabib. The neckline is like a turtleneck- a fine idea for drips and runs down the chinny chin chin. Dabib comes in a variety of colors and fabrics. The second bib is utilitarian, almost like Poppies' tool belt!! It is called a Bizzi Bibbi! Say that three times real fast! It has a Velcro fastener at the neck and a handy dandy bottle and passy holder. The Bizzi Bibbi is genius-wonder if they come in adult sizes!!

Splish Splash Bottle Drying Rack

After you rub a dub your baby's bottles you need a place to stack them to dry. Here is a goofy but great gadget to speed up bottle wash time. This innovative rotating, space-saving design is perfectly suited for the job.
The Splish Splash Bottle Drying Rack is made of certified food safe ABS plastic and is dishwasher safe (a definite plus). The rack holds up to nine bottles or cups, a shelf for nipples, valves, caps and other items and has a fun rotating drip tray. It also includes an integrated rubber-gripped bottle brush. And my favorite sentence in the whole article is * No assembly required*. Not often you see that in a description! It comes in two popular colors to match any décor - red and translucent white. I guess I can say I've seen it all now!

Our Little Razzler Dazzler

Pretty in Pink ?
According to all the experts, our baby is growing like crazy this week. It is week 8 and she is officially the size of a plump, sun ripened Raspberry!!
Our darling little Sugar Pie is putting on close to a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in her trunk. Her lips, nose, eyelids, legs, and back continue to take on the most gorgeous little shape in the whole wide world. (like her Mommy!)
Though Mommy can't feel it yet, Cutie Patootie is waving her wittle bitty arms, kicking her teensie weensie legs and wigglin her itty bitty fingers and toes like crazy. Our little Honey Bun's heart is beating at the incredible rate of 150 times per minute — about twice as fast as ours right now! That’s our little aerobiciser working on her cardio already ..aone, anatwo, anathree and kick…

Pointers For Precious

The day started out like every other Monday, me not wanting to go to work. After a busy weekend including shopping, I admit, I was a little s l u g g i s h this morning. I got to work and found that my friend Toni had a surprise for me! ( love surprises)
She bought me a rather large book titled GrandLoving – Making Memories with your Grand Children. It's chock full of ideas, hints, and tips that will help me to “Grow closer to my grandchild.” and to “Turn me in to the grandmother that every child wants.”

Now I have hundreds of expert, time proven tricks, oops - meant to say tips, on how to properly indulge our little one from birth to the teen years. Thank you, Aunt Toni!

We Hit The Target

Saturday dawned crisp and clear, a perfect shopping day. Lil Momma and I headed to Little Rock early to the new Target store. The aisles were clear and you could actually maneuver the huge red carts around and down them. We made our way to the BABY DEPARTMENT where each aisle had so many cute things. We enjoyed ooohing and ahhing down every one too! I must say I was proud of my restraint - I wanted so badly to buy several, several baby things but I overcame the urge. It wasn't easy.

We Miss Our Little Friend

Today is Isabelle's birthdate. Although the baby will never know Isabelle, Isabelle would have loved the little one as much as we do. (From afar of course!) She wasn't crazy about small children but I know Isabelle would have made an exception for our sweet little Maybaby.

Baby's First Picture

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my distinct honor and pleasure to present to you, Little Baby Barton, 51 days old today. This is the first picture of many that I plan to post. Isn't this the most beautiful picture you've ever seen? I knew you'd agree.
Save the date - MAY 23, 2011!
I'm so excited for Lindsey and Jeff! There is no doubt that they will be the best parents in the world! It will be so much fun to watch them both melt into this baby's palm.

Cribblet For Our Little Gibblet

The Co-Sleeper Bassinet is a fantastic idea as well as a unique creation that began with a mother and father's need for a safe sleeping environment for their child. They, like many parents, had realized the benefits of co-sleeping with their infants. Increased bonding, ease of feeding and a greater sense of closeness.  The Co-Sleeper enables parents and infant to enjoy a more restful night of much needed sleep. It is also highly recommended by leading pediatricians and sleep research experts. The 'cribblet' permits the parents to respond instantly to a baby's needs. Best of all, Mommy and Daddy can enjoy more rest because they can reach the baby from their bed without putting their feet on the floor! It is available in premium finishes and fabrics. Call 1-800-PRE-CIOUS to place your order today! Free shipping, delivery, and set up to Windy Hill residents.

Why Is This Baby Smiling?

There is just too much to know about babies these days. SO many things out there that hadn't even been thought of when lil Momma was born! I am taking in so much that I think I have information overload. I can feel my brain expanding! For instance, one little topic. Food. I won’t start on toys, clothing, bottles, and diapers.
Back when, lil Momma ate cheap Cherrios and vegetables and or fruit slices for ‘finger snacks’. On occasion, I'd give her a couple of Nilla waffers for something sweet.
Now, there is a mind boggling list of organic, gluten free, soy enriched, lactose free, sugarless, no preservatives added, all natural rice, non rolled, steel cut oat, rice rusk cakes in 'green', earth friendly packaging.
I stumbled upon a website touting ‘yummy’ wholesome recipes for your baby. Here are just a few of their ‘yummy’ delights that will make your baby yell for more!! Tofu Finger Cubes, Baby Won Ton Snacks, Tofu Nuggets, and my favorite, Apple Turkey Sticks, mmm. Oh my aching head, hand me my bag of Cheeto puffs.

MAYbe Baby

I'm not one to get real excited about going to doctors. Now, if it's someone elses appointment, well, that's ok. Especially if it's to find out the birth date of our lil' one.
Momma is going back to the doctor for an ultrasound on Wednesday. Good luck to Mommy and Daddy. Send us a text so we can mark the day on our calendars. XOX

Daddy's Better

Lil Momma called me Saturday night and said that Daddy was not well. We talked back and forth trying to think of anything and everything to do to help him feel better.
I spoke to Momma Sunday evening and she said that Daddy was a little better, had eaten a bit of soup, and returned to bed for a while.
Here's hoping you feel MUCH, MUCH better today Daddy!
Get well quick! We love you.

Little Boy Blueberry

Today was another good day. Lil Momma came to town Friday afternoon and stayed the night. After sleeping in a bit Saturday, we went to visit Granny in the hospital. She is walking pretty good and is doing well. We are very hopeful she will be released to go home soon.
While we were visiting and having a baby conversation, Lil Momma made a statement that the baby was the size of a blueberry. After the visit was over and we all had gone our way, I was thinking about the statement on the baby's size. I got out my handy dandy laptop and did some research of my own.
I checked out a very informative site, appropriately named 'the bump' and by golly, she was right. Our little one, according to the 'experts', is indeed the size of a blueberry. Next week will be #8, and she will be the size of a raspberry. And to think some people don't believe in miracles.
