Granny Kat is doing good today. She walked a bit earlier this morning and was sitting in a recliner when I talked to her at noon. She is getting out of the hospital in Little Rock on Friday and will check in to the hospital in Crossett for a week of therapy on her new hip. While this is not the news we wanted to hear, we are thrilled that she will at least be closer to us so we can pop in when we want and agitate her!
I thank you for your good thoughts and wishes and ask that you please continue to keep both her and Papaw Glenn in your prayers as her rehabilitation begins.

Daddy ROCKS!!
![]() |
After the visit with the baby doctor, Mommy and Daddy drove to Little Rock to visit Granny Kat in the hospital. She was sitting up in a chair and doing very well. Her doctor said she could come home when she had walked at least 200 feet. To us, that may not be very far but to her, it probably seems like a mile. We miss her and are rooting her on to her 200-foot mark!
Mommy and Daddy enjoyed dinner at one of my all time ‘flavorite’ eating establishments, Le Crackah Barrel. After filling up on good cookin', they decided to walk off their dinner and do a little baby shopping at Babies R Us.
They looked at cribs and rockers and all kinds of furniture. Guess who was doing most of the testing! Rock on Daddy, ROCK ON !

Good News For Granny
Granny got to the hospital in Little Rock at the appointed time, 8:00 am. Around 12:15, she was finally taken into the surgery. The waiting area was full of friends and family members. The doctor said that the surgery would take about an hour and a half to two hours.
True to his word, Dr. Hefley had Granny out of surgery in two hours. The surgery was a complete success. He took all of the old hardware out of her hip, cleaned up some areas with an over growth of bone and calcium, and put her new hip in. Dr. Hefley said that if she followed instructions and did her therapy, she could go home Friday. (Granny told us she'd be home Thursday!) The doctor said she would be the bionic woman before long!
She will be in room 311 when she gets out of recovery. We were told we could go ahead and go to the room. ROOM? How bout a suite? This place is better than the Ritz, and I don't mean cracker either. I want surgery here! We have another hour to go before we can see her back here in the room.
Thank all of you so very much for your thoughts and prayers through out this surgery. It's those good wishes and prayers that keep us going in times like these. We thank those that came to be with us during the surgery, you didn't have too but you did and that means the world to me.
Continue to pray for an easy recovery for Granny so she can be up to full speed when our little one arrives.

A Visit to Hawg Country
| Lady Rzrbks! |
What a great day for a tailgate party! Natalie, Chloe, and Lindsey are all smiles and sporting their team colors. Although the final score was disappointing, the chance to visit with friends was a treat. The girls had some time to play and visit while the boys went to the game.

Jeff and Lindsey aka Mommy and Daddy Barton in Fayetteville for the AR vs AL game. The final score was not in our favor but it appears that the gang was still smiling in spite of the loss.

The Call of the Wild or Child?
These are not toys but a real working class duck or goose calls for children. These childrens call styles and designs are in some of the finest call collections in the world. Only the finest hardwoods from around the world are used in the children calls. The calls are available in double reed duck as well as a long reed goose call. They are under three inches long and are one solid piece of wood. --Minnie Mouse Came to Our House
Yesterday was a good day. After Dana and I ate dinner, Daniel came over to work on his four wheeler. He and Dana were in the garage, changing oil and servicing it for the hallowed “Deer Season” coming up. I was running back and forth doing a few chores when I heard a tiny little voice coming from the laundry room. I looked around to see Bethany and Jane-Marie had walked over for a visit. There’s nothing like the cute little grin and hug that she gives when she sees us. Bethany is growing so fast, it’s hard to believe she’s already two. She has learned to say Poppy and Precious, which automatically turns us into silly putty in her hand! Every time she comes over, she adds to her growing bankroll by calling us by our 'names'. Poppy is good for up to five dollars a visit and she knows the difference between ones and fives too!! I can’t wait to see her and little B play together. Poppy better cash in his retirement so he can pass out more $ when both come to visit.

Sleeping Beauty
Natalie sent me a picture of Chloe napping today. I couldn't wait to get home to share it with everyone. It is one of the sweetest pictures I've seen. The sign makes it even more special!I'm jealous that I won't get to see her and her family this weekend as 'some' will but I'm planning a trip up before too long and I'll make up for lost time. Be sure to get some more good shots so I'll have some posting material!
Thank you Natalie for sharing, give hugs to Chloe (when she wakes of course!)

Best Dressed Caddy
It makes no difference if we have a boy or girl as long as he/she arrives happy and healthy. And of course, knows the proper attire for the greens. A good golfer knows to start with the best foundation...his/her shoes.
I found the perfect golf shoes for our little swinger in two basic colors that are acceptable on all the greens. Our little tiger (!) will steal the show on all the links with these 'spikes'.

The 30 Pound Diaper Bag
I found this amazing list of items to pack in the diaper bag for an outing. Whoaaaa…that’s a lot of stuff. The article said to use this checklist to make sure that you're fully stocked for your outing with baby. Diapers, one for every hour of your outing, pack of wipes, diaper-rash cream, cloth diapers or or burp cloths, extra shirt, pants, and pair of socks for baby, extra shirt for you, baby sunblock, bottle, toy, a comfort object, bib, extra pacifiers, cell phone for emergencies, index card with your name, address, and phone number, index card with the doctor's number, a neighbor's number, a number where parents can be reached, changing pad, plastic bags for dirty diapers, water and a snack for you. And yes, it all fits inside! ( No waaaay!) It will take more than water and a snack to keep MY energy level up for toting the bag not to mention the baby too!!Chicken Soup for the Cold
I talked to lil Mommy this morning on her way to school and she has contracted a nasty little head cold. She had a fitful night of sleep last night because of all the congestion. Remedies for colds and allergies are practically non-existent during the first trimester. (See, I’m reading up!) Mommy has her evening planned already - going home, putting on pj’s, getting comfy, and going to sleep. I think that’s a grand idea, I may even try it!!
Here’s a little something to help get well quick and feel better soon Lindsey! Love you.

Baby's New Best Friend Forever
Our baby Barton already has a new (bff) best friend forever!. Chloe is as excited as we are at the prospect of a new baby! I'm anxious to see the two play together (nicely) for many, many years! Hang in there Chloe, it won't be too long!
I love the sign Natalie, thank you! Please save it for us to hang in the nursery.

Do The Math
I went to Sam's Club Sunday afternoon with my friend Toni. We found a box, a HUGE box, of Huggie diapers. On the way home, Toni used her I Pod Touch to do the algebra on the diaper purchase.
The Huggie box contained 252 diapers. Enter. The cost of the box was 37.98. Enter. Compute....The cost of each diaper is .15 cents. We decided that for $2.25 a day, I can rest assured that the grand baby will be happy and dry at a fair price! That is, as long as they use under 15 a day... Now THAT was fun.
Shopping 101
I had a great time shopping for the baby Sunday. I looked at so many cute things and baby gadgets, it was almost impossible to resist row after row of darling temptations. After gathering my wits, I decided to do the sensible thing and choose boring diapers. There is plenty of time for clothes, shoes, bibs, bottles, pacifiers, sippies, blankets.......later. I can hardly wait!
